D.C. Law 24-211. Kenilworth Courts Official Street Designation Act of 2022.

AN ACT

To designate the street in Square 5116 between 45th Street, N.E., and Kenilworth Avenue, N.E., as Amin Muslim Street, N.E., and the street in Square 5116 between Quarles Street, N.E., and Amin Muslim Street, N.E., as Denise Stanley Street.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this act may be cited as the "Kenilworth Courts Official Street Designation Act of 2022".

Sec. 2. Pursuant to sections 401 and 402(4), and notwithstanding section 421, of the Street and Alley Closing and Acquisition Procedures Act of 1982, effective March 10, 1983 (D.C. Law 4-201; D.C. Official Code §§ 9-204.01, 9-204.02(4), and 9-204.21), the Council designates two streets in Square 5116 as follows:

(a) The street between 45th Street, N.E., and Kenilworth Avenue, N.E., as depicted on the plat in the committee report, is designated as "Amin Muslim Street, N.E.".

(b) The street between Amin Muslim Street, N.E. and Quarles Street, N.E., as depicted on the plat in the committee report, is designated as "Denise Stanley Street, N.E.".

Sec. 3. Fiscal impact statement.

The Council adopts the fiscal impact statement in the committee report as the fiscal impact statement required by section 4a of the General Legislative Procedures Act of 1975, approved October 16, 2006 (120 Stat. 2038; D.C. Official Code § 1-301.47a).

Sec. 4. Effective date.

This act shall take effect following approval by the Mayor (or in the event of veto by the Mayor, action by the Council to override the veto), a 30-day period of congressional review as provided in section 602(c)(1) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, approved December

24, 1973 (87 Stat. 813; D.C. Official Code §1-206.02(c)(1)), and publication in the District of Columbia Register.

Law 24-211, the “Kenilworth Courts Official Street Designation Act of 2022,” was introduced in the Council and assigned Bill No. 24-436 which was referred to the Committee of the Whole. The bill was adopted on first and second readings on Sept. 20, 2022, and Oct. 4, 2022, respectively. After mayoral review, it was assigned Act No. 24-606 on Oct. 31, 2022, and transmitted to Congress for its review. D.C. Law 24-211 became effective Dec. 21, 2022.
