D.C. Law 24-207. Wiltberger East Alleys Designation Act of 2022.

AN ACT

To symbolically designate a portion of the public alley system within Square 441, bounded by Wiltberger Street, N.W., T Street, N.W., Florida Avenue, N.W., 6th Street, N.W., and S Street, N.W. as Holzbeierlein Bakery Way, Joe and Mae Hurd All Sports Club Way, and Wiltberger Club House Way.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this act may be cited as the "Wiltberger East Alleys Designation Act of 2022".

Sec. 2. Pursuant to sections 401, 403a, and 423 of the Street and Alley Closing and Acquisition Procedures Act of 1982, effective March 10, 1983 (D.C. Law 4-201; D.C. Official Code §§ 9-204.01, 9-204.03a, and 9-204.23), the Council symbolically designates a portion of the public alley system within Square 441, bounded by Wiltberger Street, N.W., T Street, N.W., Florida Avenue, N.W., 6th Street, N.W., and S Street, N.W., as follows:

(1) The portion of the alley system oriented north and south between S Street, N.W., and Florida Avenue, N.W., is designated as Holzbeierlein Bakery Way.

(2) The northernmost portion of the alley system oriented east and west, opening on to Wiltberger Street, N.W., is designated as Joe and Mae Hurd All Sports Club Way.

(3) The southernmost portion of the alley system oriented east and west, opening on to Wiltberger Street, N.W., is designated as Wiltberger Club House Way.

Sec. 3. Fiscal impact statement.

The Council adopts the fiscal impact statement in the committee report as the fiscal impact statement required by section 4a of the General Legislative Procedures Act of 1975, approved October 16, 2006 (120 Stat. 2038; D.C. Official Code § 1-301.47a).

Sec. 4. Effective date.

This act shall take effect following approval by the Mayor (or in the event of veto by the Mayor, action by the Council to override the veto), a 30-day period of congressional review as provided in section 602(c)(1) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, approved December 24, 1973 (87 Stat. 813; D.C. Official Code §1-206.02(c)(1)), and publication in the District of Columbia Register.

Law 24-207, the “Wiltberger East Alleys Designation Act of 2022,” was introduced in the Council and assigned Bill No. 24-336 which was referred to the Committee of the Whole. The bill was adopted on first and second readings on Sept. 20, 2022, and Oct. 4, 2022, respectively. After mayoral review, it was assigned Act No. 24-603 on Oct. 31, 2022, and transmitted to Congress for its review. D.C. Law 24-207 became effective Dec. 21, 2022.
