Law 16-146, the “Organ and Tissue Donor Registry Establishment Act of 2006”, was introduced in Council and assigned Bill No. 16-421 which was referred to the Committee on Public Works and the Environment. The Bill was adopted on first and second readings on April 4, 2006, and May 2, 2006, respectively. Signed by the Mayor on May 19, 2006, it was assigned Act No. 16-381 and transmitted to both Houses of Congress for its review. D.C. Law 16-146 became effective on July 25, 2006.
