Law 12-62, the “Housing Authority Police Amendment Act of 1997,” was introduced in Council and assigned Bill No. 12-43, which was referred to the Committee on Consumer and Regulatory Affairs. The Bill was adopted on first and second readings on October 21, 1997, and November 4, 1997, respectively. Signed by the Mayor on November 14, 1997, it was assigned Act No. 12-198 and transmitted to both Houses of Congress for its review. D.C. Law 12-62 became effective on March 20, 1998.
