Law 12-26, the “Business Improvement Districts Amendment Act of 1997,” was introduced in Council and assigned Bill No. 12-225, which was referred to the Committee on Economic Development. The Bill was adopted on first and second readings on June 3, 1997, and June 17, 1997, respectively. Signed by the Mayor on July 3, 1997, it was assigned Act No. 12-109 and transmitted to both Houses of Congress for its review. D.C. Law 12-26 became effective on October 8, 1997.
